awkward & awesome thursday

awkward
The singing and dancing I do to amuse myself in my morning and afternoon commute. It pretty much happens daily. Even if I am stopped in traffic.

Having to tone down this "traffic entertainment routine" because I kept passing my boss. He doesn't need to see a full blown musical.

Looking over to a sketchy guy in a white construction van whose nodding along with my "routine". I got the feeling he was trying to say "WORD".

How much I'm talking about my singing and dancing in the car. New topic Ali, please.

Trying to shave my legs and brush my teeth at the same time. Yes I'm a multi-tasker. And yes, this was a failed attempt.

I'm pretty sure this bloggy is read by about 5 people.

awesome
Green nail polish- Essie's 'Sew Psyched' (+ my rings=greatness)

Photobooth for Mac. I could spend all day on this thing...

8 hours of solid sleep in a night. Man, I felt like a million bucks this morning.

Yoga... Hello, Flexibility. Welcome back to my life.

Pinterest. Done and done.

Planning our anniversary trip. We're going to be in Pennsylvania for Sean & Brittney's wedding over Thanksgiving weekend. So we've decided to stay in Philadelphia for the last night of our trip to celebrate.

It's almost the weekend! Eeeee!

top knot

My newest favorite hairstyle has become the top knot. It is probably the best thing to do with "dirty" hair. And by dirty, I mean when your hair has not been washed for at least a day. I am easily skeeved out by greasy hair. I used to wash my hair daily, which I've heard is not the best hair care. So I'm trying to train my hair to last longer between washes. The top knot is a great hair 'do to do (and holds better) on "day old" hair! There's a great tutorial here, from one of my favorite blogs to follow, The Daybook. Enjoy!

the big E

This weekend, Bry and I went to the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. We didn't think we were going to be able to go because of the weather, but we ended up having a great day for it. We went, ate, walked around, and just enjoyed a day of doing something a bit different.

We first walked over to the State houses per my request- I'm always hungry...

Lobster Ravioli with pink vodka sauce from Rhode Island

Maine baked potato- I was so pumped to eat this!

Bry went the "healthy" route and got a Maine lobster roll

Enjoying my potato. I actually contemplated getting a second one, but B talked me out of it...

Then we walked over to the petting zoo. Lots of animals were sleepy I guess...

This camel had some gnarly teeth. Didn't get a good shot of those suckers.

The kangaroo was tired too!

A little squinty. So much for cloudy with a chance of rain. It was really bright out and we left our sunglasses in the car!

Lastly, we walked over to the games. Bry wanted to win me a stuffed animal. So he plays a round of darts where you have to get a certain amount of points to win a prize. The guy running the booth made a deal with Bry that if he bought a second game, a free game "for the lady would be on the house". So Bry unfortunately had lost out two games. Somehow I managed to win myself a cute stuffed giraffe- pure luck, my friends, pure luck. However, my hubby still wanted to be a man and win a stuffed animal so he tried another game, where you have to hit and break two beer bottles with two baseballs. We had picked out the stuffed animal that we wanted before he played. He won and the lady hands us a big stuffed Obama. It was quite the prize....

hahaha!

Obama is currently sitting in our kitchen chair...

rainy evening in

Hubs agreed to stay in tonight. I can't even tell you how much I love a rainy night in. Dinner, wine, and relaxing are on the to-do list. After the way this day kicked my butt, I am totally okay with having a chill night. My hubs is the best!

snugs is our fave. has been for 7 years now.

a few boring things.

this is how I feel about today

1. I woke up this morning extremely congested and nasal-y with a killer sinus headache. Bry went home early from work with a pounding headache and dizziness. Things aren't lookin too bright in the Johnston house.

2. We've been trying to figure out whose going to watch their "show" tonight. The Grey's Anatomy season premiere is 2 hours from 9-11. Sunny is on at 10. There's one cable box.

3. I'm totally loving "Remind Me" by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Download it. You won't regret it!

4. I don't like our couches. These were my parent's couches and they are just old and not comfy- not the type of couches that you can just let yourself fall into and lay there all day. These are like a velvet-material where it makes you hot sitting on them too long. Dreaming of new ones. Dreaming in my bed, where I can actually sleep, of course.

5. And... it's supposed to rain for the next week. Literally. We had planned to maybe go to the Big E this weekend, but it's looking a little gloomy. So we will probably sit home most of the time. Which is almost always okay by me.

gabe

Last night, we went to visit Jenn and Brandon, and their new baby, Gabriel. My little nephew, Gabe, is just about the cutest 8-day-old there is. Bry and I saw him the day he was born, when he was only about 10 hours old. We both blanked (in awe of baby) and forgot to take any pictures. But last night, pictures were taken. I apologize in advance for all the baby-gushy-ness.. except, not really. This baby is gorgeous. :)
omg. cutest cheeks ever! (just like Jenn's)

i was so excited all day to hold him!

melts my heart

we had to give charley boy a little attention too

bry's first baby hold.

i think he talked more to gabe than to anyone else all night.

gabe and his momma

he's literally a bundle of love

and a teenager, apparently

so happy to be an auntie to this little guy

goodnight, gabe!

making my day

I feel the need to list a few things that are rocking my world right now...
  • Listening to Rascal Flatts on the way to work this morning. Started my day off right.
  • Today's purchases at Gap: two pairs of pants for hubby and a black blazer, blue jeans, and a belt, and two sets of baby pajamas. An awesome sale saved me over $100.
  • Trader Joe's Druid Cookies. Oatmeal, raisin, and walnuts. Get yourself a bag, pronto. You're welcome!
  • The weather outside right now. Wind, rain, and about 50 degrees. I actually love stormy evenings in.
  • B's recent texts during work hours. "Hey babe, I hope you're having a great day, and I can't wait to get home to you tonight." Not only today. Twice this week, folks. My man is a keeper.
  • I get to see my little nephew, Gabe, tomorrow! My bestest friend, Jenni-Rae, had a baby boy one week ago. I went to see Baby Gabe when he was only about 10 hours old, and I'm extremely bummed that I didn't get a picture with the lil man. Tomorrow, there will be pictures, lots of pictures!
  • It's almost the weekend! Hurray!

a wedding - y weekend {part 2}

As I wrote in a wedding-y weekend {part 1}, Bry and I went up to Massachusetts this past weekend for Erin and Kirks' wedding. The wedding was at The Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA. And boy, was it beautiful! We didn't get any of the pictures during the ceremony, because well, I was busy doing bridesmaid things and hubby forgot the camera in the car. We both didn't realize until it was mid-ceremony and I caught his eye and mouthed, "Where's the camera?" and he got a little flustered and replied, "the car". So there goes any pictures from the ceremony. But it was beautiful regardless. Here's the pictures we did get:
